Currently there are some 35 active members.  We usually have three or four tables each Monday (except Bank Holidays).  There is no annual membership fee and table money (£4) is collected on the night.

Membership is by invitation but new members are always welcome and can arrive without a partner.  Ability is not an issue - anyone who understands the basics of bidding and play will be accommodated.  There are no experts.

The standard is mixed but all players are encouraged to enjoy the game.  Systems are simple, based on Acol with a weak no-trump, Stayman, and Blackwood.  Members are encouraged to use a limited number of "gadgets" such as "fourth suit forcing", splinters, cue bids and trial bids but the emphasis is on practical, uninvolved bidding sequences.  Some members use transfers, by agreement with partner.

When there are sufficient players, simple competitions are run based on Chicago scoring.  Small prizes are awarded.
