| Bridge Classes | |
| Beginners Class |
Not currently running.
The course comprises ten lessons of two to two and a half hours.
Each lesson has a handout and at the end of the ten lessons the
pupils will know enough to play simple bridge with supervision.
I encourage the class to attend the Monday club where they can play
on a separate table at first until they are sufficiently confident.
The course costs £100 for the ten lessons. |
| Improvers Class 1 |
Completed; Weds evenings. This class
continues from the previous and is suitable for pupils who attended
that class or those who have a basic knowledge of the game and wish
to build on it. Pupils should be attending the Monday club
where possible to practise as well as arranging private games.
Cost £100 for ten lessons. |
| Improvers Class 2
and Class 3 |
These continue the process. At the end the pupils will be
able to play most hands unsupervised and enjoy the game without
fear. The course will have developed a basic bidding system,
basic play techniques and basic defence. Elementary
competitive bidding is also included. |
| Intermediate Classes |
These classes are suitable for players who have already learnt
the basics. It is assumed that pupils are confident in opening
the bidding with strong and weak hands, responding to the opening
bid, playing hands which require simple techniques such as drawing
trumps, ruffing losers in dummy, discarding losers on winners and
making effective opening leads. The classes develop the
bidding system to cover more complex bidding sequences where the
final contract may require four or more bids to be decided.
They also introduce more complex competitive bidding. |
