| BOOK 3: |
TRIPLE SQUEEZES |
|
| SYNOPSIS: |
This is the third book
in a series on Bridge Squeezes and considers the positions where one
defender is squeezed in three suits.
123 positions are described as diagrams showing the cards
remaining and how each position is played.
There are also 120 examples which are drawn from several
sources – the author’s own experience, friends, books, submissions,
creations and newspaper articles.
These examples show how the basic position was reached and
the preparation needed to achieve it.
The author uses his mnemonic TOWEL (threats, over, winners,
entries, losers) to categorise and analyse each position and
describe its essential characteristics. Triple squeezes exert a
fascination over enthusiasts which is unequalled by any other form
of squeeze. A triple
squeeze occurs when one opponent has to defend three suits and they
are very important both in theory and in practice as many of the
more interesting positions arise from variants of the triple
squeeze. They are also
relatively easy to play at the table as it is often clear that one
defender holds all the strength.
As an overall group they are also relatively common.
The chapters cover
Although the distinction between primary and secondary positions is blurred in triple squeezes, the book does not cover the secondary strip squeezes except a few in chapters 4, 6, 8, 10 and 11; the others are fully discussed in the books on three suit strip squeezes. |
